Dementia Demystified: Session 2 – Management | Online (Cancelled)

The Dementia Demystified two-part webinar series offers a practical and stepwise approach to improving knowledge, skills and confidence in recognising, diagnosing and managing dementia in the primary health care setting. Although it is most relevant to GPs, practice nurses and nurse practitioners in the general practice setting, it is also inclusive of other allied health professionals in the primary care setting.

Session 2 - Demystifying Dementia - Management

Speakers: Dementia Training Australia, Lead GP Educators: Dr Stephanie Daly, Dr Hilton Koppe and Dr Marita Long

This session will focus on person-centred care when delivering a dementia diagnosis and the initiation of post-diagnostic care, specifically across Stage 1, including issues around fitness to drive. As part of management, risk factors and how to integrate a brain health check in the 45–49-year-old health assessment will also be looked at.

Learning outcomes:

  • Integrate brain health in the 45–49-year-old health assessment
  • Apply person centred care when offering a diagnosis of dementia
  • Initiate post diagnostic care for people living with dementia
  • Access and appropriately integrate health pathways to improve patient outcome.
