Osteoarthritis (OA) affects 26% of females and 16% of males aged over 55 years in Australia and primarily impacts weight bearing joints such as the hip. Hip joint replacement is the typical intervention for end stage hip OA, with large numbers of hip replacement procedures performed in Australia to treat the pain and disability associated with hip OA. This has led researchers and clinicians to consider interventions that reduce pain and increase physical function, so to prevent or delay the time to surgery; or prevent or retard the progression of OA, in light of the ageing population.
Join the panel of experts above to see how the use of exercise interventions can help reduce pain and delay surgery for hip OA patients.
