The Australian Digital Health Agency is currently working with Healthdirect Australia to identify healthcare provider organisations in the National Health Services Directory (NHSD) that are connected to the My Health Record.As your practice is connected to the My Health Record, from mid-July 2016 the My Health Record logo will be automatically displayed next to your practice details on all NHSD services, such as widgets, listings, and on Healthdirect Australia’s phone application.

If you do not wish to display the My Health Record logo next to your practice details, email NHSD

The Australian National Universities eMHPrac (e-Mental Health in Practice) team is part of an Australian Government funded initiative to develop and provide e-mental health training and support to allied health service providers, primary care nurses and peer support workers.  eMHPrac is currently wanting to know about the use of online mental health services in work. Survey closes Sunday 31 August 2016.

Victorian Cancer Plan 2016-20

The Victorian Cancer Plan 2016-20 was launched on Friday 22 July by Minister for Health  Jill Hennessy. The plan includes initiatives in prevention, detection, treatment and research to support people who develop cancer.

BreastScreen Victoria are encouraging GP's who are in and surrounding their clinic locations in Bendigo, Mildura and Shepparton, and the  mobile screening service currently in Robinvale and Yarrawonga, moving onto Beechworth and Broadford,  to remind their female patients aged 50-74 to attend a free breast screen.

Event evaluation |  Exercise is Medicine Shepparton

The Exercise is Medicine event was held in Shepparton on Thursday 14 July. Terri Bootsman,  an Exercise Physiologist from Echuca was the presenter who engaged the audience around the  benefits of prescribing exercise to improve the internal health of patients with chronic disease.  Terri used data to show that exercise medicine was not primarily about weight loss for a patient,  but about improving physical activity and reducing the rates of hypertension, cholesterol,  depression, blood pressure, improved blood sugar levels, and decreased fat levels around vital  organs.
