Murray PHN is currently building Murray HealthPathways with local health services. Click here to watch the  video to be introduced to our GP Clinical Editors, learn what Murray HealthPathways is, and hear how you can be involved in the development of pathways.

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare’s Australia’s Health 2016 report was released on Tuesday 13 September. According to the report Australians are living longer than ever but with higher rates of chronic disease.

GP e-Referrals | Loddon Mallee

A new, secure electronic medical referral system for GPs that will make it easier and safer to share patient health information will be piloted at selected health services across the Loddon Mallee region.  Bendigo Health will lead the pilot in conjunction with Murray PHN, Loddon Mallee Rural Health Alliance and Bendigo Loddon Primary Care Partnership.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander | Social Health Atlas

The Public Health Information Development Unit (PHIDU) has published an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Health Atlas.  This presents a range of demographic, socioeconomic, health outcomes and service use data for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples at the Indigenous Area level.

Advance Care Planning | Announcement and videos

On Tuesday 13 September Minister for Health Jill Hennessy announced new laws giving people greater powers to set directives about future medical treatment, including end-of-life care.  Click here for more details.

The Advance Care Planning Initiative (East Hume and Border) have release Taking Care of Dying Time video which has been produced in conjunction with the Central Hume Koolin Balit Project and Central Hume Primary Care Partnership.  The initiative is seeking feedback about the use of the video.

Aboriginal Health Conference | Shepparton

The Ngar-Wu Wanyarra Aboriginal Health Conference will be held on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 October 2016. The conference provides an opportunity for sharing information and connecting  people that are committed to reforming the practice and research of Aboriginal health and celebrates Aboriginal  knowledge systems and strength based approaches to improving the health outcomes of Aboriginal communities.

Cobram and District Cancer Support Group

The Cobram and District Cancer Support Group is  a group where people who have had, or currently have cancer, and carers and families of people with cancer, can share stories and information. People from across the region are welcome to attend, with members attending from Cobram, Barooga, Tocumwal and Berrigan.

My Health Record brochures |  New ordering  process
As of Monday 5 September, the Department of Health have  changed  the way My Health Record All you need to know brochures are distributed to healthcare organisations. Brochures will only be sent to healthcare organisations who request an  order.

The new process for ordering additional brochures now requires either an email to e: health@nationalmailing.com.au or a call to t: 02 6269 1080.  

When ordering brochures, the following information will be required to place the order:
  • the name of the brochure you are requesting (e.g. My Health Record All you need to know)
  • the quantity of brochures required
  • organisation name
  • street address
  • contact name
  • phone number
