Murray PHN | Position vacant

Primary Care Coordinator Bendigo
This fixed-term role is required to provide relief for a period of maternity leave which commences in December 2016 until June 2017. This position supports Primary Health Services, particularly General Practice, to improve front line health service delivery. Applications close 6 November 2016.

Family violence therapeutic interventions consultation

In response to recommendations arising from the Royal Commission into Family Violence, the Department of Health & Human Services has committed to work with the Family Violence Service System and  is hosting a series of forums (including in: Ballarat, Shepparton and Swan Hill) to explore  best practice approaches, service delivery frameworks and operating models.

AHHA Stepped Models of Care

On Friday 28 November some Murray PHN staff attended Australian Healthcare & Hospitals Associations (AHHA) Stepped Care Models for Mental Health Workshop in Sydney. Primary Health Networks have been funded by the Commonwealth to facilitate implementation of stepped care models in Australian mental health services.

Paediatricians clinic Bendigo

Bendigo Community Health Services are currently not accepting new clients to their Paediatric clinic due to current service demand and wait lists. Recommendations for other Paediatricians have been made.

The Department of Health & Human Services has published a consultation draft of the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Program Guidelines as part of the response to the independent review of the recommissioning of adult community based alcohol and other drug services. PapScreen nurse scholarships

PapScreen Victoria is offering financial assistance for Victorian Registered Nurses (Division 1) to become cervical screening providers. Successful applicants are required to commence an endorsed cervical screening provider training course in 2017. Applications close Friday 18 November 2016.

Decision Assist is presenting a series of free webinars to guide aged care providers and other health professionals through the fundamentals of advance care planning. Indigenous workshop Shepparton

On Friday 18 November a free one day workshop for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who work in health is being held at Rumbalara Aboriginal Cooperative to help the participants understand the care needs, services available, advocacy, coordination and patients and family communication.

ACRRM online course for general practice teams
The Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine (ACRRM)  has developed an education program which will assist GPs and their practice staff to integrate the sharing of health summaries via the My Health Record as a routine component of sustainable and quality practice.

The ACRRM program will assist practices develop strategies to build integrated care teams around each patient, use technology rationally, and share appropriate information through the National My Health Record System.

It has been developed by College Fellows who are 'working at the coalface'  of rural practice and who are leaders in implementation of Practice Improvement (Quality and Safety) strategies and in the adoption of the My Health Record and Telehealth, and its use in the management of patients with complex chronic diseases.
