Australian Government Consultation Paper | Redesigning the Practice Incentives Program (PIP)
Murray PHN is seeking stakeholder feedback from GPs, practice managers and practice nurses to inform the Murray PHN submission. Click here to contribute via a five question survey.

Background information:
In the 2016-17 Federal Budget, the Australian Government announced it would work towards changing the PIP through the measure entitled Quality Improvement in General Practice  Simplification of the PIP. The redesign of the PIP replaces some of the current incentives and introduces a new Quality Improvement Incentive which will give general practices increased flexibility to improve their detection and management of a range of chronic conditions, and to focus on issues specific to their practice population.

The redesigned PIP would also aim to reduce the administrative burden associated with multiple PIP payments and move towards a system that supports practices to identify ways to work with their practice population that are flexible, supports quality improvement, align  to the evolving context of Australian primary health care, and are consistent with Australian Government policy priorities.
