Goulburn Valley Health funded
Goulburn Valley Health's Waranga Aged Care Hostel will be redeveloped into a one-stop-shop for all of Rushworths acute, aged care, primary care and community health services. On December 15, Minister for Health Jill Hennessy announced $10m to redevelop GV Waranga Campus in Rushworth, co-locating its health and aged care services under-one-roof.
In Shepparton, Goulburn Valley Health will also receive funding to hire new paramedics and improve ambulance response times. The funding will also support a new ED assessment and streaming model to move patients more quickly through emergency and to increase capacity in the short stay unit. Goulburn Valley Health also plans to purchase eight new cardiac monitors, an ECG machine and an ultrasound unit and employ four extra specialist ED doctors and two extra nurses. Treatment capacity at weekend peak times will be boosted by ensuring a physiotherapist, nurse practitioner and radiographer are on site seven days per week.
