A message from our CEO

The Murray PHN has had a very successful first month of operation. The significant planning undertaken prior to our commencement on 1 July stood us in good stead. We have been able to satisfy the dual objectives of ensuring services continuing from the Medicare Local program and implementing our new regional structure.

Murray PHN has awarded 110 contracts with 80+ providers to enable the delivery of services into 50+ communities, all without disruption to existing patient services.

The establishment of offices and employment of over 50 staff located in Mildura (servicing North West Victoria), Bendigo (servicing Central Victoria), Shepparton (servicing Goulburn Valley) and Albury (servicing North East Victoria and Southern NSW), was a major exercise and has successfully integrated staff from three other Medicare Locals.

The smooth and successful introduction to the Primary Health Network environment was greatly enhanced by the very constructive and professional approach that we encountered from Goulburn Valley, Hume and Lower Murray Medicare Locals through this  transitional  environment.

I commend their boards, management and staff for their assistance to  our organisation during this time. We will ensure all communities and providers of health care in our catchment region receive our best efforts to contribute to a more efficient and effective health system throughout our region.

Spanning from Mildura to Woodend and eastward to Wodonga including Albury NSW, the Murray PHN will support and influence health services accessed by over 563,000 people.
