After Hours | Funding Grants
Murray PHN invites applications for After Hours Funding Grants from suitable applicants able to undertake After Hours Primary Health Care projects. Applicants must also demonstrate a commitment and ability to work in collaboration with Murray PHN to seek improvements and/or innovation in quality, value, and outcomes in connection with After Hours services.

Ice training for frontline workers

The Victorian Government has launched Ice: training for frontline workers, a  free, online training package for all Victorian frontline workers who work in health, community services, education, police and emergency services, correctional facilities and other service industries.  Completing the training package will assist workers to develop the knowledge and confidence to:  

  • understand  the  effects of ice and identify users
  • ensure their own and others’ safety
  • respond effectively to people who are ice-affected.

Whooping cough booster

The 18 month vaccine schedule will include a first booster dose of diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis (DTPa) vaccine from March 2016.

New cervical screening guidelines

On Monday 15 February Cancer Council Australia released the new draft Clinical Management Guidelines for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer. The guidelines haven't been updated for 10 years and mark a number of changes, such as the move from 2-yearly Pap testing to 5-yearly testing (expected to result in more than 20% reduction in incidence and mortality from cervical cancer).

North West Regional Manager

North West  Regional Manager  Dale Thompson has tendered his resignation with Murray PHN in order to strike a better work balance with his young family, Dale decided to resign from his role with Murray PHN and his last day will be Friday 4 March. Murray PHN thanks Dale for his contribution to the team and his hard work over the past five months.  

My Health Record

With people increasingly expecting that their health information will follow them, My Health Record is part of the journey to move to a more connected health system. Click here for  the Department of Health’s My Health Record first digital bulletin which gives:

†¢      An overview of My Health Record, which has replaced the PCEHR
†¢      Upcoming changes to My Health Record including new training opportunities and changes to the ePIP.

Further information on the My Health Record and ePIP changes will be available on the Murray PHN website as the program's rolled out.

Hepatitis C treatment

General Practitioners will play a critical role in delivering the new treatment for hepatitis C.  As of Tuesday 1 March 2016, all Victorians will be able to access new treatments for hepatitis C on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

Incentives for vaccination providers

As of Friday 1 January, 2016 an additional $6 incentive payment will be made to vaccination providers and GPs who follow up and vaccinate children who are more than two months overdue for their childhood vaccinations.

Victorian Tumour Summits provide a forum for clinicians to review available data and prioritise actions to improve clinical outcomes for each tumour stream. An update has been released about initiatives arisen from the colorectal, lung and lymphoma summits held in 2014/15.

Play | Four Funerals in one day

A play by Alan Hopgood about death, grief and living will take place on Wednesday 9 March in  Shepparton.  Attending the play will also provide an opportunity to ask questions to an expert panel and  access  resources.

The Carer is a play about rediscovering joy after a death to Alzheimer’s Disease. Monday 7 March in Wangaratta.
My Dog has Stripes is a play  that addresses depression, mental illness, anxiety, eating disorders and suicide.  Tuesday 8 March in Wodonga.
