Cancer screening rates |
Murray PHN region

In data released by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare  Murray PHN has ranked:  first  for cervical cancer, fifth for breast cancer and ninth for bowel cancer screening program participation rates out of  the 31 PHNs.

Enhanced nurse clinics

The Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) is being funded by the Australian Government to develop original models of clinical care delivered by nurses in primary health care settings. Providers from across primary health care, outside the acute setting, such as aged care, community health, correctional health and general practice are invited to submit an Expression of Interest. EOI close Friday 4 March, 2016.

2016 immunisation schedule

Access the current (from January 2016) immunisation schedule for Victoria which consists of the:  Immunisation Schedule Victoria,  Immunisation Schedule Victoria, increased risk categories and  Victorian Immunisation Programs.  The webpage also includes the 2016 Victorian Enhanced Immunisation schedule.

Prime Ministers  commitment to Closing the Gap

"I was heartened to see in this latest 2016 Closing the Gap report that there are some positive gains. For instance, Indigenous mortality rates are declining, especially those deaths from circulatory diseases (such as heart disease and stroke) and the Indigenous infant mortality rate has more than halved in the past 16 years. The fact that there is a high rate of immunisation among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children at five years of age is encouraging".

The Decision Assist advisory (8am until 8pm, 7 days per week) line provides GPs with free and easy access to specialist palliative care professionals who can answer a range of questions from advance care planning through to symptom management.

Cancer support group | Alexandra

The launch of the Murrindindi Cancer Support Group which aims to provide support for people affected by cancer, their families and carers, is taking place on Wednesday 25 February, 2016. An Oncologist, and representatives of the Cancer Council and Hume Integrated Cancer Service will present.

New primary mental health program

Goulburn Valley Health are delivering a new primary mental health program.  This service has replaced Navigating Life, with Navigating Life’s waiting list being transferred to the new program.  Referrals and Mental Health Care Plans can be sent to the new service via the following details:
