Situation Vacant  | Manager After Hours

The Manager After Hours will play a key role in the development and implementation of an after hours strategy, across the Murray PHN catchment area.  Applications close midnight Sunday 28 February 2016.

Murray PHN will be inviting interest to an After Hours innovation grant program to encourage proposals to support and enhance the availability of primary care after hours services throughout the Murray PHN catchment area. More details in the next edition.  

headspace Swan Hill opens

Bendigo Hospital | Road closure

Mercy Street will be temporarily closed from Monday 15 February, 2016 until mid-April to allow works on the new Bendigo hospital entrance.  An access road will be opened from Arnold Street during this time.

NDIS information session | Bendigo

Consumers can join a group of people to think about how the NDIS might work for them. Margaret Grigg, Deputy Chief Executive at Mind is one of the facilitators, who has spent time talking with people involved with one of the first pilots, and will help people gain insight about opportunities and challenges that come with this change.

Attracting rural GPs

On Thursday 11 February, 2016  Minister for Rural Health Fiona Nash announced that rural and remote communities will find it easier to attract GPs. The Murray PHN region has over 30 communities who automatically have the DWS due to MM 5-7 rule and over 10  communities which have gained DWS status due to population to GP ratio.

Bowel cancer screening program | 2016 eligibility table

Cancer Council Victoria have prepared a 2016 ages for eligibility table for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. It features a table for GPs to use when working out when their patient will receive their next free kit.

Goalzie is a mobile game application aiming to help young people to learn valuable behaviours to carry through to adulthood.

Online cancer screening modules

Overcoming the Barriers is designed for people who care for and support people with disabilities. The modules enable disability workers access to information to promote bowel, cervical and breast screening with their clients. A launch event is being held in Melbourne on Wednesday 24 February, 2016.

Mental health clinic Shepparton

The mental health clinic at Shepparton Private Hospital  is now open for private, Workcover and TAC admissions. Dr Indranil Chakrabarti, Dr Siddhartha Dutta and Dr Tejraj Tawde are the attending Psychiatrists. Specific client needs and requirements must be discussed with an Intake Worker (p: 03 5832 1323)  prior to sending a referral.

The  BreastScreen Victoria bus will be parked outside the Swan Hill Visitor Information Centre from March - July 2016. Mallee District Aboriginal Services are encouraging Indigenous women to get screened.
