Heathcote Health  primary care facility celebrated  their  grand opening last week. The redevelopment will  allow for more people to access health services as well as attracting a wider range of health providers to the area.

Health care reform submissions

The Department of Health & Human Services is seeking responses on their discussion paper about health care reform. The discussion paper is the start of a conversation about how everyone can work together to build and strengthen our health system over the next 20 years.  Responses  close on 31 October 2015.

Launch of interim Australian IBD standards

Crohn’s & Colitis Australia is pleased to release the Interim Australian IBD Standards.  The project includes a full audit of IBD services conducted across more than 60 hospital sites in the next year. Chron's & Colitis is interested in feedback on the standards from primary care providers and GP's.

The Victorian patient transport  assistance scheme (VPTAS) subsidises  the travel and accommodation costs  incurred by rural Victorians and an  approved escort, who have no option  but to travel a long distance to receive  approved medical specialist services.

Patrick McGorry | Shepparton

Local trauma recovery organisation, Leading From Within is inviting the Greater Shepparton community to support them again this year, as they bring renowned youth mental health expert and 2010 Australian of the Year, Professor Patrick McGorry to Shepparton in November.
Professor Patrick McGorry is the Executive Director of Orygen, Professor of Youth Mental Health at The University of Melbourne, and a Director of the Board of the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. He is a world leading researcher in the area of early psychosis and youth mental health, and has a strong interest in promoting the mental health of the homeless, refugees and asylum seekers.

Preparing for the snake bite danger period

Every year around this time, GV Health doctors and staff meet to discuss the risk factors associated with snake bite injuries and the latest medical treatments surrounding the incidents.  GV Health Divisional Clinical Director ED/ICU, Dr Manny Geaboc said,  Ã¢â‚¬Å“It’s a mode of education as well as an opportunity to update any changes to treatment methods".

High demand for Wodonga family violence service

Centre Against Violence provides  family violence services for women and children through its offices in Wodonga and Wangaratta and counselling outreach to Benalla and Myrtleford.  Centre Against Violence said police made contact each time they attended an incident, which could be up to twenty times over a weekend.
